Who

After observing the plight of the Indian Muslims in academia through his solo academic journey, Safdar Quddus is/was pained further to observe-for years-beautifully articulated bayaans/lectures/motivations luring people with no yield.

Safdar Quddus has been blessed with excellences in various realms of life(هَٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّي). As a schooler, at a time when almost all of the Indian Muslim community was deprived of quality (higher)education; he had the taufeeq/favour(وما توفيقي الا بالله) and courage to be awarded the prestigious KVPY Fellowship. The only Muslim to be selected for the RMO(‘03, ‘04 Rank 2) in Jharkhand and the only Muslim across the country to participate at the IPhOTC at the HBCSE.

Higher Education

He was blessed with the opportunity to study mathematics at India’s best math undergrad program at the Indian Statistical Institute(2004-07), an institute that Hazrat Moulana Wali RAHMANi(RA) revered association with. Thereafter, he attended Washington University in St. Louis for a PhD in Mathematics (2007-13).

Professional

The following years were spent teaching at the Islamic University of Madinah and at the NISER, Bhubaneswar. For past 6+ years, he is a faculty at the Indian Institute of Science(IISc), Bangalore. He has taught varied courses and published research articles in journals of high repute and interacted with the elite Mathematicians, Physicists and Educators in India and abroad.

Madrasah Education

He was enrolled at the Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow for the traditional aalimiyyat(religious scholar) course which was discontinued owing to a personal reason. Currently, he is actively pursuing it and is expecting a graduation soon InSha`ALLAH.

Sufism

He also is a student of tasawwuf holding an ijazah in Sufism from Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Qamaruzaman Elahabadi(DB).

Community Interactions

He was actively involved in a project proposed at the HBCSE aimed at promoting math education for the Indian Muslim community. For the last 3 years, he is an ardent researcher in Math Education. Through the schools of Uri to the universities of the South, living in the slums of Kurla to the life with the elites, interaction with Muslim labours in 800+ kms of continuous journey in general coaches to those fortunates with fortune of 1000s of crores, discussing Islam in the privileged Umrath dorms of South40 to similar discussions with the ageing Chancellor of Nadwa(RA) privately; he has a wide spectrum of exposure into the the community’s need, especially education.

Vision

Safdar Quddus wishes and expects young(er) generations to provide leaders and would love to see them have bettered him academically, intellectually, religiously and spiritually, in parts or in entirety.
